Introducing the Puck Chronicles!

Welcome to the first edition of The Puck Chronicles! This marks the first edition on this exciting journey into the stories that make up hockey history. The Puck Chronicles is an idea inspired by my passion for the sport of hockey coupled with my desire to start writing in my free time. Whether you’re a diehard fan like myself, a curious newcomer to the sport or simply someone who loves a good story, this weekly newsletter will aim to bring you closer to the people, moments and stories that have defined hockey.

My aim with each edition is to deep-dive into a specific game, moment, or story, and bring behind-the-scenes research and insight to explore it. In my opinion, hockey history is full of so many random, yet intriguing stories that are just so interesting to me, and I hope to you too. I hope to be able to accurately tell these stories in an engaging manner, allowing you to learn more about one of the many interesting events that have shaped the game.

About Me

I’m Areez, a lifelong hockey fan with a passion for writing and history. I spend countless hours, watching, reading and thinking about hockey. Unfortunately, a lot of those hours is spent on my favourite team, the Maple Leafs and the constant disappointment that comes with being a Leafs fan. I hope my choice of favourite team doesn’t make you unsubscribe, as I promise there will be no bias here 😄. Jokes aside, hockey, in any sense, is my passion and through The Puck Chronicles, I hope to share that with you.

Get Involved!

I’d like this newsletter to be as much yours as it is mine! I’d love to hear from you:

  • Got any stories or history you want to read about?

  • Know of a fascinating moment you’d like to see featured?

  • Have anything hockey-related you’d like to share?

Send your story suggestions and contributions to [email protected]. Even if you want to reach out to just talk hockey or anything else, please do!

Furthermore, if you want to help support the newsletter and keep it growing, consider recommending or sharing it to your friends. It would mean the world to me, and will help keep the project growing and thriving!

Finally, I’d like to give you a sneak peek at the first edition… 👀

I did promise no Leafs bias, but I think we can all appreciate the player and person that is Mats Sundin. Having grown up through Sundin’s prime years with the Maple Leafs, he is my personal favourite player of all time. In the first edition, which will drop in the first week of the new year, I’ll explore the controversial ending to Sundin’s professional career, and tell the story of his return home to Toronto, as a Canuck. Stay tuned!

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Let’s celebrate the history of hockey, together.
